David Boudrie takes a swing and hits a home run ! This interesting delivery van is a 1938 White, possibly an 800 series. Mike W gets an honorable mention, as I have seen some info indicating these vans were built with Indiana badges too. These style vans were only built for a year or 2, until White introduced the mid engine White Horse delivery in 1939. Thanks to Sven Bengston for the photo. The 1st ad shows a very similar looking White from late 1937, while the last ad is for the 1939 White Horse.

Does anyone have more info on these vans? I believe I have a water cooled version and am trying to track down the year, engine specs, etc.

I did a Google picture search on the late 1937 ad above and found it is for a White Merchandor introduced in 1938.

From coachbuilt.com...
"The first of these was the under-floor engined Merchandor of 1938 followed a year later by the more radical White Horse 2-tonner, a Franklin design.".

Doesn't say if the white horse replaced the Merchandor or how long the Merchandor was in production.

I doubt White would have built both at the same time. They had a big investment in the White Horse and needed strong sales, so why compete against themselves ?
