Tony, I don't know which he has but both are available. If he has a married unit it will be a bottom mount.

That's interesting about the big ones being bottom mount. It might be because they can handle more torque and power driven off the main shaft compared to the side mount driven off of one of the twin counter shafts. When designing a system you have to consider the difference in rotation of the two types. I always cringe when I see a bottom mount on an off highway truck as they can be pretty close to the ground.  I don't think I've ever seen an 8 bolt on the side of a a transmission. Maybe on an Allison.

Mack triple countershaft transmissions have the eight bolt mount on the right and six bolt on the left. Nothing on the bottom as it is rounded for the bottom countershaft.

forgot to say in my original post "Looking from the front" for PTO placement.

On a Roadranger both the 6 and 8 are countershaft driven, in fact I can't think of any main shaft PTO's as they wouldn't turn when the truck is stationary, unless a special gear was placed on the input shaft.

Thank you Geoff I stand corrected.

rto is 5 on low side and 4 on top that you split with od. the one against the dash is RTOO.

Thanks Wayne-I've just looked up an RT/RTO 6613 manual and they are the same shift pattern as an RT/RTO 613-so nothing like an RTO 9513.

Is the RTO6613 like an RTO613-basically a 10 speed with 5 in intermediate range and 5 in high range and 3 in deep reduction low range? I used to drive an old Australian IH ACCOF 2152-A series with V555 and RT613. I think the RTO613 would have the 5th gear position towards the dash.

Apparently we have some skilled mechanics around here that can fit them. The county's old low boy tractor was fitted with a side mount.
They just torched the frame rail to clear, and everything was good to go.

Wayne, that's a good point about not having enough room on the side. I never thought about that!
