Definitely not how it was in New Zealand in the 1950s, but this absolute honey is a recent import. It is a c.1954 model CG522C factory tag axle with what I think is monkey motion suspension. I don't know what powers it as I didn't see under the hood. Twin stick with Timken double reduction drive axle and Timken tag axle. Plate states max speed of 48 m.p.h. DO which I take to mean double overdrive-both sticks toward the dash, so not real high geared. To a Kiwi truck enthusiast to see one of these old KWs in the flesh is just fantastic. This truck is a good 10 years older than the first KWs to come here-from the Canadian plant at Burnaby, B.C.

Very nice Ron. I forgot to mention the Mercury sleeper on the black one. What engine, transmission, rear end and suspension is yours?

Posted to fb by Serg Malyshev. March 1940-D30 models being assembled at IHC plant at City Road, South Melbourne. I think these cabs were manufactured by T.J. Richards. Would be D35, D40 models there too because 3rd truck in line on right has o.h.v. motor.
