Couple Gear, gas engine, electric generator, and electric motor in the wheels, with planetary hubs, if I recall.  Very advanced for the 1920s.

Couple Gear is it. The Couple Gear Freight Wheel Company built trucks from 1904 to 1922 in Grand Rapids Michigan. Our photos show a circa 1918 gas-electric tractor. Ivanov had this first. Our photos were posted to Facebook by John Waitz.

Does anyone recognize the engine in the Couple-Gear?

1925 Dykes or earlier editions might say.  The timing gear case might be 2 camshafts, a T head?  Somebody posted questions about a firetruck that had a T head, I can't remember right now what brand of engine, but it was one of the more common brands.

I looked in Dykes, it gives a description (it does not use planetary hubs).  Dykes description says the engine is a 4 cylinder, 5"x5.5" but not the engine manufacturer.  The spec sheets from the CCJ do not list Couple Gear.
