May have been a Holley dist when built. My parts books don't cover that engine though, Holley was on the larger governed motors I do know.

If the distributor turns CCW this can would advance the timing with vacuum applied.

I'm not sure on the small six, That looks like a 250 Chevy unit, but my memory isn't what it used to be.
IHC used Delco on automotive but Prestolite on industrial/AG units. I don't think the AG units had vac advance. You might ask over on oldihc.org.

Found the diaphragm to be shot in the distributor in my '59 IH B-162, but I'm also suspecting it has an incorrect distributor as well. Looking up parts catalogs, all the caps for a IH distributor appear to be clamp on, whereas this has a screw on cap. I also thought the vacuum advance can was supposed on the on the other side of the distributor, so this can would actually retard the timing instead of advance it? Or is that just on the 4 and 8 cylinder motors? Tons of info out there on Scouts...not so much on the earlier I6 motors though...

Truck seems to run OK otherwise though.
