Thanks John, I never tried to get them in person, all the online places and catalogs don't show them available, but do show just about every other part. They don't even list a part number in the Rockwell book that list the axle housings for those mounts, so can't search by part number.
It think more and more yards are going to close as truck are no long vendor spec'd and are more like cars, you have to get the part made for that make and model. Not quite there but that is where it is heading. .

He can call Big Sky Truck and Equipment in Missoula, MT 406-728-3346 and see what they have. They're closing the doors this winter so the deals are great!!! It's really sad to lose them as they're a great resource and very reasonable.
If you want the new saddle mounts, you should be able to get them easily. I think I got my last set from Inland Truck Parts. Welding them on isn't as big of a deal as you'd think....measure a few times, and weld. I've done a few and yet to have a problem.
I've got some SQHD housings that already have the mounts, and I could probably be persuaded to trade for some good SQHD housings that don't, as I'm going to air. I'm in NW. MT, your side of Kalispell.

Ok, did a bit of looking and it does look like many are selling without housings, might be worth contacting and asking how much for the complete with housings.
I can find with housings for $2K mostly Eaton 46K axles. Add to that a pair of diffs in your choice of ratio's ( didn't look into price) and the Shipping and that "cheap" conversion is north of $10K. Doesn't sound like a winner to me.
Last time I was looking for a cut-off, many were sold with housing but without diff (center section.  Some are still sold that way.
BTW I would look for an RT or RTE (extended leaf), RT would be fine for what it is going to be used for. Don't need the extended leaf unless he was going to do a lot of empty miles and wants a softer ride empty.
In all likelyhood the cheapest way out is to sell that road truck and buy something set up for what he wants to use it for.
A quick look through Meritor and Euclid, Stangle  etc shows no one sells the axle bracket..
So buy housings withe the cut off!

I'm going to be brutely honest. I don't think you can do what he wants cheap, You can do 1/2 assed and pay the price for that, but it still will be not cheap. You can do it right, but it will require some serious bucks.
12 years ago or so I bought a walking beam cut off. Very nice newer unit with true double frame (not just the bat wing stiffener) complete with housings and spoke hubs, for  $750. I still have it, I didn't get around to the project.
Since he has to change gears anyway, If I were building that truck for that purpose, I would go with a cut-off and Eaton housings  (402 housings) and put DT two speeds in the housings. I did that with my Marmon (4.11/ 5.63) (don't exactly remember the low ratio, so may be off a bit)
Why he would be so concerned on which style hub, but want to do it cheap is beyond me. If I could find spoke hub it what I needed, I would go with it.
I've never come across a walking beam suspension for sale WITHOUT housings. Since the housing bracket is how you align the axle to the frame, separating the housing from the cut-off make both worth less than they would be in another suspension.
Field work can be hard on equipment, starting with a 1/2 assed job is going to set you up for break downs in the hardest place to do repairs.
I know it isn't you doing it, but it is words he needs to hear. Sometimes if you can't do it right, you shouldn't do it at all.

I've tried to explore all the options for the guy. We can reuse his gears and housing. I've seen advertised suspension only. I know this is a hard way to do a conversion but he's next to broke. It's not how I would go. The current gear ratio is Hiway 3.72 or something like that and he should have maybe 5.29 for field work. I've spent hours pursuing the internet and  have called a couple of local yards and they start out 'bout $4000 with no gears and they're fairly late model parts and he needs the older stuff (cheaper). Years ago there used to be some good logging truck wrecking yards on the other side of the state, but they've all closed. He'll just have live with what he's got  'cause I've ran out of ideas. Everything on a truck is SSoo expensive and that's the reason I got out of trucking.and I'm way happier just working a salary job that has nothing to do with truck or repairing trucks. Thank you for your replies though. bjr23

If aftermarket brackets are available I think Automann would be the source. It may be possible to fab the brackets locally if you have a real good machine shop. I suppose an old hendrickson susp is one way to make a field truck but those housings are not gonna last in the tater patch I fear. I personally prefer one of the Z leaf air suspensions. They will oscillate just as far as the henrickson. Just my opinion.

I'm sure they can be ordered, BUT there is no alignment possible once welded in place. better get it right the 1st time. Might not be as much an issue with a farm truck, but tire wear could be a problem
If he has the suspension why not use the housing that came with it?
SQ100's use the same common bearings and spacing, so swapping spoke to disk is no issue,  But off road, spoke is stronger.
I am just curious, where is he getting the beams, brackets, spring etc from? If off another housing why not cut the end brackets as well?

I'm tryin' to help the neighbor. He's a owner/operator. He's tryin' to resurrect a old W900 highway truck to a field truck for potato harvest. He wants to change out the 8 bag air ride on SQ100 housings to a Hendrickson spring suspension. Does anyone know if you can buy just the housing beam end brackets (after market would be nice) to weld on his SQ100 housings? I know the first and easiest solution would be to just buy the housing with brackets, but they want a arm and a leg for those things and none available in or around Easter WA state. The other is there's a suspension and SQ100 housings Wwaay down in Colorado (and expensive), but they got them cast spoke hubs and he'd want to swap out the hubs and drums to his bud 10 stud style, would the swap out? And Yes, I was told "it's Hell bein' Poor", that kindo' comes from tryin' to own and operate "Trucks"! bjr23
