My Swedish Grandmother would always remind folks to not leave home without their galoshes.  We could send some to the left coast if needed. 

They would probably work over truckers flip flops...


My mother was from Quebec so it was "Don't leave without your rubbers..."

Just so happens I have a 16' aluminum canoe, Grumman I think, I bought it new as a kid in 1963. Paid every dime I'd saved for years, paper routes, mowing yards with dad's cast iron Goodall lawn mower. Cost $125 new in 63 so it's got a lot of sentimental value. You can't afford it, however if you take all those latex gloves you've accumulated during the covid madness and blow them up surely with a roll of duct tape you can create a raft that will sail all the way to the sunset.
