Trucks, give me trucks!!! --- I'M LIKING TRUCKSWhen we see what we want to see, and hear what we want to hear---- all too often we miss the point!

I'm where I'm at when I'm all there! But,when I'm here, how can I be all there?

It's a Walter alright. Brian got this one right off the bat, which is not surprising as he is pretty quick on these all wheel drives. This Walter is from the early '70's, I believe, and unfortunately I do not have any further info on it. The Walter Motor Truck Company built their last trucks in 1997, having built trucks for almost 90 years. Thanks to Sven Bengston for the photo. The refuse truck is a 1970 model with a Heil Mark V body.

The refuse truck also looks like a regular type front axle. Does anyone know when Walter went away from the DeDion type open axle shafts??

Thanks

Walter did not go away from the DeDion type open axle shafts. That truck is called a Walter Junior. The Junior model used a Walter transfer case with conventional Rockwell axles instead of the Walter style axles. The Junior model seems to have been mainly used for smaller airport firefighting vehicles but a few Junior Snow Fighters were built in the 1970s and some were also used built for refuse collection.

Thanks for the feedback and info. My last association with a Walter was in the 60's.
