Still wondering if you've figured out what is missing from the Gee Bee --

Here is the original pic I posted for the question -- and you found something I missed. Good catch, but still looking for something else, and for that matter, so would the pilot if this were the real plane --

I have been meaning to post a bunch of aviation related stuff from my job over the past 5 days or so. Been another whirlwind tour. MI, OH, MD, NC, TN, WV, NJ since Thursday. 4 jobs in 4 days. Busy busy busy.

Here is a picture of our path. The Red circles are DC and NYC.

Film production trucks for "Draft Day" a movie being filmed there. More Freightliner Argosy's then I have ever seen in one place.

Widgeon

This one is in Pima Air & Space Museum.
I volunteer out there during winter when I'm in Tucson.
Stop in some time.
Don't know if you'll be able to pick it out, but there is different style hull in the background that can be used on it.

riveted construction is wrong.

No -- plane did use flush rivets where metal panels were used behind the engine and around the fuel tank

Clue --- the same thing is missing on this photo of a model of the R-2, sister ship of the R-1.

Putting up this photo of one of my favorite planes. It is actually a photo of a model. Can anyone tell me what's wrong here? I spotted it right away.

I'd have expected the prop to have more blades, for a start.

Nope -- It's not the prop, it was only a two blade. And these photos will not help solve this mystery ----
