A disaster for Caterpillar as a truck engine-the industrial version D336 fared better, I think-in first series 980 wheel loaders and 621 motor scrapers.

Thanks for posting those John, in the H-S 590 advert, I guess the around 600 c.i.d. competitor gas engine was a Continental R6602.
