What happened, did we scare everyone off ? No one has this yet. A tandem rear was unusual for this make in the '30's, in fact this is the earliest one I've seen, but they sure did built plenty of them in the '40's.

After looking through Lost Truck Legends, I'm pretty sure it's a Corbitt. This has been a really good one Jeff.

And you are absolutely right Hamish, that is how I id'd this truck also, from Lost Truck Legends. Robert Gabrick's latest book has some nice photos of early Corbitts, and while this exact model is not depicted, the radiator, hood, fenders, and headlight bar are an easy match. I would say this truck is a '29-'31 model. This is from Edgar Browning:

The photo was taken on July 30, 1931 and is part of the Bureau of Public Works Collection in the NARA (National Archive and Records Administration) Stillpix Unit in College Park, MD. I was doing some onsite scanning there on Monday and Tuesday for the upcoming VA Roadbuilding Book. The photo is in the public domain and you may use it in the WAI. The photos depicts work on the Boundary Channel Bridge (Potomac River) at station 50. Merritt Chapman & Scott is the contractor on this bridge. The bridge today is known as the 14th Street Bridge between Virginia and DC. The bridgework is part of the construction of the Mount Vernon Highway, known today as the George Washington Parkway. MC&S had some Mack AC Bulldogs with concrete agitator bodies working on the job, and perhaps that is an agitator as well.

Thanks very much to Edgar for the photo. I have no other photos of similar Corbitts.
