This truck has been posted before but here's a 1945 ad showing it in action.

There is no such thing as a VIN prior to the 70's There are only serial numbers, so your chassie number, if it is on the title, should be all that is needed.
Did this truck come from Lewistown, MT?

I hope I can get some info on a 1949 federal 25m2 that I recently purchased  It has a Montana title but I can not find the vin plate on the truck. There is a plate with the chassis number etc. but no vin#.  I know some states did not require a title back in the day so my reasoning is at a later date a title was applied for but the vin was never placed on the truck. I live in Indiana and do not wish for any suprises when I go to the BMV. Also is this a 2ton truck? Thanks in advance

John Frances that is a good picture of a big Federal. There were Federals in my area growing up in Northeaster,Penna. but I never remember seeing one of that size.

According to the spec sheet, I think this is a D6554. The brochure is from the Federal site here. I attached all 4 pages because I fixed them to make them easier to read.
