That's all I drove for the first half om y career and I have to tell you they were fun to drive even in the snow and you could spread the weight of the load out way better than a semi. As the 90's rolled in the truck and trailer kind of went away with the exception of fuel trucks or transfer boxes but the truck n trailer will always be my favorite. Here are a few more for you.

I've pulled mostly fuel and hot oil sets with that sort of setup (body tank and pull trailer)... with 2, 3, and 4 axel trailers. They're not too bad on slick stuff, but they're not as nice as a B train. They're sure a lot nicer to get around with than a "regular" trailer.
I was put on this earth to do a certain amount of things....right now, I'm so far behind I could never die!

Anybody driven one of these truck and trailer combinations in bad weather? Legend has it that they're more stable than a tractor-trailer combination, but I've never driven one. Are they really more stable, or is that just a legend?

The white ones with the red stripe were early 70's and the red ones with the white stripes if I can remember right are 79 or 80 models.

These decked Kenworth's belonged to Ed Fountain Lumber company from LA, they used to turn two trips a week from southern Oregon to LA and then they would deck em and and take turns driving back. It was the only way they could legal the two trips. The first set had 8v71's in them and the second set had big cam cummins and the mother truck had a 3406 cat in it. all of them had 13 speeds and these trucks were light.

They're all from my family and some are mine. I'm the skinny runt next to the load of glass on the D Hill truck back in the early 80's at hoover dam and my wife is in the other pic. The Decked KW's are my uncles trucks out of Redding Ca. Here are a few more for anyone that wants to see some.
