This is a Fageol, and a pretty advanced truck for its time. Consolidated Freightways had some new and different ideas for building trucks, and called on Fageol to put them into action. No doubt diesel powered, and probably utilizing as much aluminum as possible, this Fageol was in service in 1937 and perhaps even a year earlier. Fageol is generally acknowledged as the direct predecessor to Peterbilt, but they were also indirectly responsible for Freightliner also. When Fageol went out of business in January of 1939, Consolidated Freightways began to build their own unique trucks. The 1st Freightways trucks in 1940 bears an uncanny resemblance to the last Fageol COEs. John, I don't think this is the same truck as #184, notice the fenders are different. My thought is that CF had several of these Fageol COE's in their fleet. George Murphey had this 1st.
