1912 - 1913 Saurer ---
Trucks, give me trucks!!! --- I'M LIKING TRUCKSWhen we see what we want to see, and hear what we want to hear---- all too often we miss the point!
I'm where I'm at when I'm all there! But,when I'm here, how can I be all there?

George,
I think this truck is just a little bit older: 1911.

Originally built in Switzerland starting in 1903, Saurer trucks were first imported into the United States in 1908, and assembly began in the US the next year. By 1911 the 4 ton Saurer was being manufactured in Plainfield New Jersey, and the next year Saurer became part of the International Motor Company. Not to be confused with International Harvester, International Motor Company was the parent company for Saurer, Hewitt, and another company you may have heard of: Mack. By 1916 IMC began manufacturing the famous Mack AC Bulldogs in Plainfield, and by 1918 the last American Saurer was built. Saurer continued building trucks in Europe, with production finally ending in France in 1956. Hamish had this 1st. Thanks to Sven Bengston for the 1912 WAI photo. The survivor is a 1911 model from Dan Souday, and the restored 1912 truck, part of the Van Horn collection I think, is from Mike W.
