The SAR I know stands for S model Australian Right hand drive... This is apparently later then the S model in the previous post and after KW opened the plant in AU??

Brocky, I thought it was short hood or bonnet, Australian, rhd. They were W900SAR models. KW opened their Aus. plant at Bayswater in Victoria in 1971. All S900s were U.S. built, not sure how many went to Aus., they also had U.S. built 900 series, W900 series and K100s before the Aus. plant came on stream. In New Zealand we had Canadian built-(at Burnaby, B.C.) L900, LW900, W900, K900 and 848 models between 1964 and the later 1970s.

John I see that S900 on the Aussie truck sites named "SAR". Did Kenworth have a plant down there or were a they a special model exported from US?

Not an SAR-W900SAR was an Australian designed and built model-102"" BBC-first built 1975, I think. This is an S900-Seattle built-first KWs sold in Aus. in 1962-short 90"" BBC-never built in Aus.
