Spartan it is. The Spartan Coach and Manufacturing Company built buses in Sturgis, Michigan from 1946 to 1949. The original model was a 21 passenger on a 170" wheelbase, but later 25 and 29 passenger models were also offered. A few Spartans were even sold to Nairn Transport in Syria. Our WAI 1948 Spartan was featured in American Automobile magazine, published in Europe. Bill White had this first. Thanks to Sven Bengston for the WAI photo, and Bill White for the rest.

It seems that the standard engine for the Spartan Motor Coach was an International BLD269 as used in the contemporary KB7 truck, but in the caption for the WAI? picture it states that the coach supplied to the Nairn Transport Company had a GM diesel-so I wonder if it was a 3.71?
