When I was a kid, my dad was a mail truck driver and part of his route was to haul mail from the train depot to the post office. I often rode along with him and one interesting memory was a crate of live frogs being unloaded from the train and loaded into an REA truck. The constant screeching of thousands of frogs packed in a wire mesh crate amazed this little country boy. Years later I learned the frogs were were used for human pregnancy tests.
At that time and location, (late 50s) I think the REA trucks were Fords, but I'm not certain.

I remember seeing a lot of those green trucks and step-vans as a kid.

Then there was a color change to silver with blue graphics and then they were gone.

I think Railway Express built those delivery trucks on just about everybody's chassis???

That's correct.  REA was not exclusive with a Chevrolet chassis.  I have seen Ford, Chevy and IH.  Probably Dodge was in the mix as well.

The 71 PMT Chevrolet tractor with the DD/Allison combo is mighty interesting!

The first one is a mongrel!! 1954 / 1st series 55 grille, But a pre 54 split windsheild and 4 wheel drive. I forget if the second one is 1958-59 is an 80 or a 100?? Possibly later as the Aussies did not always get the body styles the same year we did...  Pictures taken in 2015 at the Truckies Reunion in Alice Springs NT AUhttp://forums.justoldtrucks.com/uploads/images/196f330b-1e6a-4274-82d7-67a1.jpg

This bad boy was spotted at Harrisonburg but sadly did not make the Show Time edition.  A very husky unit that was parked next to an equally impressive Titan 90!
