After playing bed bugger for a few years my hopper sure was nice. No headache rack needed, no chains either, Two minutes or less dealing with a tarp and the load falls in or twist a lever and it falls out!!!

I noticed that since I switched from flatbed/step deck/ RGN, to tankers about 17 years ago, I notice alot of local hay haulers, and a few flat beds running with no bulk heads, or headache racks! I asked a few (the ones that actually answered the CB) about it, they said it was no longer required! I think I would run one jut to be one the safe side, I saw what happens when you come to a sudden stop with a load of oilfield casing once, it would have been ALOT worse if here were no cab protection, It was pretty scary as at was!

whole bunch of scrap iron! some actually runs! Most just eat money and take up space in my yard

Rick, we got into this deal with our company. Safety dept says we do not have to have one but anything on the front deck or the front piece on a flat has to be secured by the book.  I left mine on cause it is where I carry my chains and binders and my strobes and turn signal and work lights are all on it. Yours does look good on there and I agree you eliminate any questions with the DOT gang.

I cried because I had no shoes till I met a man who had no class.

LOL, Wayne Debbie ask me if I was going to hang chains on it like. I said no, she says what's it for then? I said for all it pretty lights, I got an OH! The truth is, there is still a question of whether you do or do not need one if the upper deck is loaded with trucks. Some DOT guys say not if you have the proper chains, some say if the upper deck is loaded you have to have one. So I'm covered either way, and besides it has all the cool little bulkhead light that you don't notice when their not lit.

Kid, I think he aspires to be like me. Notice his rack has no chain racks or trays. Indicates trainee status. lol

Kid, Aaron's best buddy Bill Johnson has a 1974, 42' belonging to George Crouse listed in the new W.O.T. for $14,500.00 I think he's a wee bit high.
