This old warrior belongs to the "Garage Sarre - Boisseuil (Haute-Vienne) - France", it was still working & comissionned at the end of 80s.

Ward la France / Kenworth M1A1 up front, and I'll go for Renault at the back.

Hmmm, some interesting answers here. Jack Amaral was on the right track, but this is not a Mack wrecker. John Gott has the best answer, this is a Ward Lafrance Series 5 M1A1 or a Kenworth 573 M1A1 6x6 wrecker with an R model Mack cab. Dan Souday knows the location of this beast, the "Garage Sarre - Boisseuil (Haute-Vienne) in France". WLF & KW built the M1A1's from 1943 to 1945, and before that they shared production of the M1 wreckers starting in 1941. Not only do we get to feature a very interesting truck today, but we also get to show off our own Bill Bradford's beautiful Ward LaFrance M1A1. Thanks to Bill White for the WAI photos.

so the 2nd truck wasn't the rear end compartment of the one closest to the camera? you were just looking for the WLF and then the Mack Cab I guess..

did your original (before edit) question use the terms, '...Two different trucks in one here..' i thought it said something different which is why I went the way I did..

Yes, I said "Two different trucks in one here, it has been re-cabbed". The truck on the right is the rear of another larger, more modern wrecker. Sorry if there was some confusion.

I think I did post it and then edit it to clarify my wording, but it was all in a matter of seconds. Mike, you are so fast you got caught in a black hole !
