Just a few takers on this but it's unanimous. This 1920 truck was one of several built by Goodyear in the early '20's to promote the use of pneumatic tires. Goodyear was one of the 1st to champion 6 wheel trucks, not only to increase load carrying but also to spread the load more equally over the primitive early roads and bridges. I'm sure the fact that 6 wheelers required more tires had something to do with it too. The bogie on this early 6 wheeler was designed by Ellis Templin, who was hired by Goodyear. Later Goodyear 6 wheelers would use Timken worm drive. Mike W had this 1st. Thanks to Bill White for the photos from the Goodyear Collection at the University of Akron.
