Daryl Gushee's 1933 Klauer FWD SnogoThis is a featured page

Well here it is. My big west coast purchase I was talking about. This truck was owned by ATHS and was in a sealed bid auction in the spring of 2009. It has been on display at the Hayes museum in Woodland Ca. for quite a while. I really don't have the trucks history but I am sure someone out there knows and can help.

A real beauty.
One of the few survivors.
They told me at the Hayes museum it was running a few years ago but the Mag was giving some problems.
Should be an easy fix.

Still has all the original lights and other goodies.
Missing the exit chute and the engine side covers.

The truck on the back is a nice 72 Brockway that Erv Bickford bought in Utah.

Nice to find them with all the original data tags.

Lots of informative tags.

The power plant.
More modern units had 2 engines but the early ones were all powered from the big Blue streak.

I haven't got this ignition set up conquered yet but all in good time.

Which one turns the steer tires?
I am sure it was a two man operation to keep up with this.

The top of the radiator stands over 8' high.
I tested the hand crack to find that its a big swing and at about 1/4 turn you want to get the handle disengaged.
It will not clear the rear bumper and could really hurt if your hands were in the way.

I believe it is about 1100 cubic inches.

The photo does not do it justice, as far as size goes.

Here is the FWD part it.

Another view. Looking back towards the rear.
The transfer case is on the right and is not much smaller than what you find on an Oshkosh M911.

All the mechanism for the front mounted rotary plow.

I found some dry storage for it.
It was a tight fit but at least it's under cover.
