Walter JuniorThis is a featured page

Tom Albrecht and I traveled to Ellicottville, NY To check out a Walter Jr. These trucks were made in the early seventies and were a scaled down version of the big snowfighters. Peculiar to this model was the use of a conventional Rockwell four wheel driveline rather than the Walter style Bevel drives. We suspected that this was a Jr model when we learned it had 20" tires. The truck was powered by a 180 Cummins that started well and sounded very strong. It has a five speed (Spicer?) transmission with a conventional looking transfer case. I did not look to see if it was a two speed transfer case. The differential ratio was up above seven, not lending to very high travel speeds. This truck desperately needs a new cab to make it restorable. It would be a nice example of a fairly rare model Walter if restored. Once again, the fellow wants to sell it to a collector rather than send it to the scrap dealer. The high price of scrap puts the asking price at a prohibitively high mark. Contact me if you want to contact the seller.

I have to wonder if it was repowered or axles replaced at some point? Being a complete novice on Walter of course, but the dump box looks borrowed off someothing else as well as wheels? Does this still exist?
