Does 30136300 look like an accurate Cummins engine serial number? Its cast in the passenger side of the block behind the frame rail. The data plate is missing. I'd really like to know what it is. I have researched posts here and on the aths forums as well. Not coming up with much on my own.

Serial numbers are usually on the top left corner of the block just where the head meets the block

A serial number wouldn't be cast into the block, it would be stamped.

So this probably isn't it?

As Aaron said top left REAR corner on a machined pad on the 855s I've seen.

Usually top left front corner, but newer stuff may have it on the rear.
Quite often hidden by a bracket for the air conditioner pump.

I think mine is on the top at the rear of the block. I took several pictures and was talking with our mechanic, he pointed it out on the picture but I can't zoom in on it enough. When I get off this afternoon Im going to look at that again. But I dont think the entire number is legible on the block so it may not help much. It appears to start with 1 and then a 6 or 8. Last 3 possibly 030 or 036. All other component part numbers are pretty easy to make out.

it appears to be 10818636, but it doesnt pull up on the Cummins quickserv website at all. Anyone able to check it in other sources?

You tried on its day off maybe.

I think Glenn is on a fleet account on Cummins QuickServe. I tried to establish that account for my business and they wanted $1000.00 a year just so I could buy their parts easier. I don't get it. The free account gives very erratic and limited results.

A friend of mine told me about two years ago he could get a account for fifty dollars. He has a independent  shop. I think what your talking about Tony is a service shop and that's not the right name but it will have insight program just like the dealers have. There was when I was still working three grades of quick service.I have forgotten so much of it and don't miss non of it.

I Agree with this.. The info is pretty basic & generic. It's a good job It's free 'cause that's all I reckon It's worth..
